Jamilla Rankin

Jamilla Rankin broke into senior football with Brisbane Roar in the W-League. She spent four seasons there, and it was in that period, in the 2020–21 season, that she was named to the PFA Team of the Season as a left-back and was nominated for the Young Footballer of the Year award.

A move to Melbourne Victory followed for the 2023–24 A-League Women campaign, where she switched flanks and was picked in the PFA Team of the Season again, this time as a right-back. Victory reached the Championship final that season before losing out to Central Coast Mariners. Rankin's performances had already caught the eye of the Matildas set-up: she made her international debut in June 2022 against Spain, a heavy 7–0 defeat, and has since built up caps for Australia without troubling the scoresheet. She started for the national side against South Korea in April 2025 and was named in the squad for the AFC Women's Asian Cup on home soil.

Her move to Europe came in August 2024, when Hoffenheim brought her into the Frauen-Bundesliga. Two years later, in July 2026, she signed for Eintracht Frankfurt on a three-year deal. A left-footed defender who has now made over 100 senior club appearances, Rankin arrives in Frankfurt with experience on both sides of the back line and the kind of tournament football expected to shape her next caps for Australia.
