About the player
Laura Freigang was born in Kiel and started out with FSV Oppenheim and Holstein Kiel before moving to TSV Schott Mainz in 2014, where she spent two seasons in the Regionalliga and 2. Bundesliga. From there she crossed the Atlantic, spending 2016 to 2018 with Penn State University in the NCAA, where she scored 11 goals in 37 appearances.
She returned to Germany in the summer of 2018 to join 1. FFC Frankfurt, the club that became part of Eintracht Frankfurt following the 2020 merger. She has stayed with the Frankfurt project ever since, signing extensions first through 2025 and then, in July 2024, through June 2027.
Freigang made her senior debut for Germany on 7 March 2020 against Norway and has gone on to earn 44 caps, scoring 17 goals. Her hat-trick against Greece during Euro 2021 qualifying, in a 6-0 win, stands out among those. She was part of the Germany squad that reached the final of the 2022 European Championship, played at the 2023 World Cup, and won bronze at the Paris Olympics in 2024, adding a further bronze from the 2023-24 Nations League. In 2024 she received the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt, Germany's highest sports honour.
At club level, Eintracht Frankfurt finished third in the Frauen-Bundesliga in 2023-24 and reached the DFB-Pokal semi-finals that season. The following campaign, Freigang scored a hat-trick in a 10-0 DFB-Pokal win over FFV Erfurt.
