About the player
Sara Doorsoun-Khajeh returned to Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2026, signing a contract until June 2028, where she made her debut in September 2025. The move brought her back to a team she had already represented from 2022 before crossing to the United States.
Her career started in Cologne, where she was born, and ran through SC Fortuna Köln and SG Wattenscheid 09 before a spell at SC 07 Bad Neuenahr and a year at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. The defender then settled at SGS Essen, making more than 100 appearances there between 2013 and 2018.
At VfL Wolfsburg she won the Frauen-Bundesliga twice and the DFB-Pokal three times, and reached the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2020.
Doorsoun-Khajeh earned 59 caps for Germany, scoring once, and was part of the squad that reached the final of UEFA Women's Euro 2022. She also took a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and another with Germany in the 2023–24 UEFA Women's Nations League, having earlier been named in the squads for Euro 2017 and the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women's World Cups. In 2024 she received the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt, and in June 2025 she announced her retirement from international football.
