About the player
Jordi Liongola scored his first goal for Burundi in March 2026, in a 4–0 win over Chad in qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. It was his sixteenth cap for the national side. He was born in Tessenderlo in Belgium and had played for Belgium at U16 level, winning one cap and scoring once in 2016.
His club career began in the Belgian system. He spent the 2018–19 season with Standard Liège II and the following year with Royal Antwerp II. He then spent a period without a club before Lierse Kempenzonen signed him in July 2021. He played 22 times there and scored once.
The move that shaped his career came in July 2022, when he joined RAAL La Louvière on a free transfer. He stayed until June 2026 and played 116 matches, scoring 15 goals. One of those came in a two-goal game in February 2025, when La Louvière beat KSC Lokeren 5–0 in the Challenger Pro League.
In June 2026 he left Belgium for Sheffield Wednesday, signing a three-year contract. He had made one appearance for the English club by August 2026.
Liongola is right-footed and, at 1.85 m.
