Liam Palmer

Liam Palmer arrived at the academy in 1999, aged seven, and signed his first professional contract in 2010.

His first spell away came on loan at Tranmere Rovers between July 2012 and May 2013. He returned to Hillsborough and was named the club's Player of the Season for 2013/14. The 2011/12 promotion from League One had already been part of his story, as Wednesday went up automatically.

In August 2022 he won the EFL League One Player of the Month award, and he finished 2022/23 as Wednesday's Player of the Season for a second time. That campaign ended in the League One Play-Off Final against Barnsley, which Wednesday won to return to the Championship.

He has made more than 500 appearances for the club and stands seventh on its all-time list. In June 2024 he re-signed with Wednesday.

Palmer plays for Scotland and made his senior debut on 21 March 2019 in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan, which Scotland lost 3-0. He won eight senior caps between 2019 and 2021, and he also played for the Scotland Under-19 and Under-21 sides.
