Joshua Myles Abraham Key

Josh Key's move to Swansea City in July 2023 was settled by a tribunal. The fee was set that way after a delay of more than a year, and the amount was never made public.

The route to that point ran through the lower divisions. Key began in the youth ranks at Torquay United and moved to Exeter City in 2015. His first senior football came away from the club, on loan at Bideford in 2017–18, where he made 18 appearances and scored four goals. Tiverton Town followed, and that loan lasted from 2018 to 2020. It produced 67 appearances and 11 goals. He joined the Exeter first team in 2018 and stayed until the move to Wales.

The 2021–22 season was the high point of his time at Exeter. The club finished as runners-up in EFL League Two and won promotion to League One. Exeter also reached the play-off final that year and lost to Coventry City. Key scored in the semi-final against Portsmouth. He was not the permanent captain, but he acted as a squad leader and served as substitute captain. Across his Exeter career he made 148 competitive appearances and scored eight goals.

At Swansea he has made 110 appearances and scored five goals as of September 2026. He has not won a major individual award or a team trophy there. Before turning professional he represented England at youth level, from Under-16 to Under-20.
