About the player
Malang Gomes is a product of the Nantes academy, joining the club at Under-12 level in 2020 after coming through Sainte-Geneviève, US Grigny, INF Clairefontaine and FC Fleury 91. He rose through Nantes' youth ranks and captained the club's Under-19 side during the 2023-2024 UEFA Youth League Final Four. Along the way, Gomes scored in the group stage against Salzburg and converted a penalty in the shootout against Copenhagen.
He also spent two seasons with the reserve team in National 3, making 42 appearances before signing his first professional contract with Nantes in June 2024.
Gomes has yet to make a senior appearance for Nantes. He was loaned out to Le Mans for the 2025-2026 season. His senior debut, however, was a difficult one: starting against Dunkerque, he was sent off in the 29th minute.
At international level, Gomes represented France at Under-18 level, winning four caps under coach Bernard Diomède, including fixtures against Italy and Germany. Through his father, he is also eligible to play for Senegal, though he has not featured for any senior national team.
