Marko Arnautović

Marko Arnautović has come full circle at San Siro. He first arrived at Inter as a loan signing in 2009–10 and, though he made only three appearances and was not a regular starter, took a place in the treble-winning squad that lifted Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. He returned to the club fourteen years later, again on loan, and this time made himself a genuine part of the side: 27 appearances and five goals in 2023–24 as Inter won the Scudetto again and the Supercoppa Italiana, prompting the club to make the move permanent in 2024. His second spell as a full member of the squad was more modest, 18 appearances and four goals, before he left for Red Star Belgrade on a free transfer in July 2025.

Before either Inter chapter, Arnautović built a well-travelled career across four countries. He came through at FC Twente, then spent three seasons at Werder Bremen and four at Stoke City. His move to West Ham United in 2017, a club-record £20 million fee, brought his best return in England: 21 goals in 59 appearances and the Hammer of the Year award in his first season. A switch to Shanghai SIPG in 2019 was followed by two productive years at Bologna, where he scored 24 goals in 54 games.

For Austria, he holds the national team records for both caps and goals, a run that took in three European Championships and a World Cup before his international retirement. He was named Austrian Footballer of the Year in 2018. At Red Star Belgrade, he has already added a Serbian SuperLiga title and the Kup Srbije to his collection.
