Max Josef Lowe

Max Lowe's first-team debut for Derby County came in a League Cup tie with Carlisle United in August 2016. The match ended in a 14–13 penalty shoot-out win, a record score for a shoot-out. Lowe, a product of the Derby academy, scored his spot-kick.

He did not settle straight into a Derby regular's role. He went out on loan to Shrewsbury Town for the 2017–18 season and reached the EFL Trophy final. A year later he moved to Aberdeen, where the season was his most distinctive. The Scottish club reached the League Cup final, and Lowe was voted the Players' Player of the Year. He later had a short second spell in Aberdeen. Derby remained his club until 2020.

In September 2020 he moved to Sheffield United. His Premier League debut, against Fulham that autumn, was limited by concussion, and injuries continued to interrupt his time there.

He then joined city rivals Sheffield Wednesday, where he plays mainly at left-back in the Championship. In March 2025 he suffered a season-ending injury in a match against Sheffield United, his former club.

The following summer, Wednesday's financial difficulties and unpaid wages led Lowe to give notice that he intended to leave under FIFA rules. He then withdrew the notice and committed his future to the club.

Lowe has also played for England at youth level, at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-20. He won 24 caps in total, but has not been called up by the senior side.
