About the player
Max O'Leary came through Bristol City's academy from 2006 and joined the senior ranks in 2013, making his first-team debut in January 2016. Kidderminster Harriers, Bath City, Solihull Moors and Shrewsbury Town all had him between the sticks. Clean sheets against Brentford, Sunderland and Huddersfield Town stand out among more than 150 appearances for the club.
In January 2026 O'Leary left Bristol City for West Bromwich Albion on a short-term deal to the end of the season.
Eligible for the Republic of Ireland, O'Leary had been called up before without playing, in 2019 and 2022. The wait ended on 10 June 2025, when he won his first cap in a goalless friendly against Luxembourg. His second followed almost a year later, 74 minutes played in a 5-0 win over Grenada. Both appearances have come in friendlies rather than competitive fixtures.
He has not collected team trophies or individual awards during his career, though EA Sports gave him an honourable mention in the FC 26 Team of the Year list.
