About the player
Ricardo Bettocchi Matallana made his Liga 1 debut in August 2026, at the age of 24, coming on for UTC against Alianza Lima after injuries and suspensions left the club short of options in goal.
Bettocchi's path into professional football began at Club EGB, where he trained before moving to Colegio Santa María, with whom he won the Movistar Championship in 2018. From there he progressed into the senior game at FBC Melgar, where he was promoted to the first-team squad. He subsequently joined Universidad San Martín, spending the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the club.
In 2023 he moved to Academia Deportiva Cantolao, where he remained through the following two seasons. That spell ended in January 2026, when he signed for UTC as a free agent. His debut for the Cajamarca club came a matter of months later, thrust into a match against Alianza Lima by circumstance rather than by an extended run of form in training or a settled position in the pecking order.
