About the player
Rocco Vata scored 28 goals in 55 games for Celtic B in the Lowland League. He joined Celtic's academy at the age of seven and moved through the age groups to the reserve side, which entered the Lowland League. He was playing there from 2021.
His first-team debut for Celtic came in December 2022. Celtic won the Scottish Premiership in both 2022–23 and 2023–24, and the Scottish Cup in 2023–24, and Vata was part of the squad through those seasons.
On 5 July 2024 he signed for Watford on a four-year contract. Because he was out of contract, the move was a free transfer, but Celtic received £237,000 in training compensation. He is now tied to Watford until June 2028.
Vata was born in Glasgow but plays for the Republic of Ireland. He represented them at every youth level from Under-15 to Under-21. In March 2024 he scored a hat-trick for the Under-21s against San Marino. His senior debut followed on 23 March 2025, when he came on as a substitute in the 2–1 win over Bulgaria in the UEFA Nations League play-off.
He is a right-footed forward.
