About the player
Ryan Boot saved two penalties in a shoot-out against Oldham Athletic in August 2017 while still on the books at Port Vale. Loan spells followed at Worcester City, across three separate stints, and a shorter one at Macclesfield Town, before he left Port Vale as a free agent in the summer of 2018.
Solihull Moors gave him the platform that defined his career. He also won a single cap for England C, appearing against Wales C in March 2022.
Boot left Solihull Moors in the summer of 2023 and joined Chesterfield that August. The move paid off quickly: Chesterfield won the National League title in 2023–24, taking them back into the Football League. He has continued to produce big moments under pressure.
There was frustration too. Boot was overlooked for an emergency loan signing at Port Vale in 2017.
