About the player
Sacha Ziani grew up in the FC Nantes academy but his path there was not a straight line. He returned to Nantes in 2016 and worked his way back up through the age groups.
The high point of that youth career came with the armband on. As captain of the Nantes U19 side, Ziani led the team to the title in the Championnat National U19 in the 2021/2022 season, scoring in the final against Monaco. It is the achievement that still defines his profile at the club.
His senior football has come mostly with the reserves. Between July 2021 and January 2023, and again from January 2024, he played for Nantes' second string in National 2 and National 3, interrupted by a loan to La Roche VF in National 2 over the first half of the 2023/2024 season. He signed his first professional contract with Nantes in June 2023, formalising a status he had earned through the academy rather than a transfer.
By the 2025/2026 season, Ziani was being linked with the first-team group, with call-ups reported for Ligue 1 matchdays.
