Simon Hedlund

Simon Hedlund's first-team career began on 12 August 2012 with a substitute appearance for Elfsborg in a 4–1 Allsvenskan win over Malmö FF. The club won the league that year. A Svenska Cupen win followed in 2013–14. Across his first spell in Borås he made 93 league appearances and scored 14 goals.

In August 2016 he moved to 1. FC Union Berlin for €850,000, the highest fee the club had paid for a player up to that point. He played 75 games for the Berlin side and scored 11 goals before leaving in January 2019 for Brøndby IF, for a fee reported at around €250,000 but not officially disclosed.

He was named Brøndby's Player of the Month in both February and March 2019, soon after arriving. Over four seasons he made 160 appearances in all competitions and scored 27 goals. The 2020–21 Superliga title, Brøndby's first league championship in 16 years, was the high point, and Hedlund was a central part of it. The league named him its Player of the Month for May 2021.

Sweden capped him twice, both times in January 2020. He made his debut in a friendly against Moldova on 9 January, and three days later, in his second cap, scored his first international goal in a 1–0 win over Kosovo.

Hedlund came back to Elfsborg in August 2023 on a free transfer. In his second spell he has scored 12 goals in 75 league appearances, and he has extended his contract until 2028.
