Cacahuatique

Two seasons into the top flight, Cacahuatique reached the semi-finals of the Primera División in Clausura 2026, and the reserves went the same distance in the same tournament. Óscar Cerén, a Salvadorean international midfielder, joined in 2026.

The climb was a long one. A team from Ciudad Barrios, in the Chapeltique area of San Miguel department, the club had existed since 1968 without ever reaching the elite. It won the Tercera División in Apertura 2018, then lost two Segunda División finals — Apertura 2021 and Apertura 2023 — before the promotion play-off of Clausura 2023-24. That tie against Titan finished 1-1 and went to penalties; Cacahuatique won it 4-3, and a club founded 56 years earlier played its first season in the Primera División.

Alexander Márquez, born in San Miguel on 27 September 1996, holds the club's league scoring record with 8 goals — a modest figure that says as much about how recently Cacahuatique arrived in the top division as about the midfielder himself.

The women's side reached the semi-finals in Apertura 2023, and the youth teams took Clausura 2025.

Home matches are played at the Estadio Municipal de Chapeltique, which holds 5,000. The ground is not the club's by history — Dragón of San Miguel and others used it first — and it had to be brought up to standard in 2024 before top-flight football could be staged there. The club has never changed its name and has never moved.
