The club had been formed in 1950 and has never changed its name or merged with another side, playing out of Richmond Park ever since — 3,000 capacity, 1,000 of it seated.
Carmarthen lost the 1999 Welsh Cup final to Inter Cable-Tel on penalties after a 1-1 draw, then lost again in 2005, beaten 0-1 by TNS. The club beat Afan Lido 3-2 in 2006/07 to finally lift the Welsh Cup. Deryn Brace was player-manager that year.
Those two Welsh Cup finals left their mark: TNS, who denied Carmarthen the trophy in 2005 before it went the other way in 2007, and Inter Cable-Tel, who beat them from the penalty spot in 1999.
