Andrés Arias took the job in 2021, before there was much of a club to take charge of, and stayed until 2025. Belén, a canton in Heredia province, wanted second-tier football back and bought the San Ramón Municipal licence to get it.

The 2023 final was the near miss. Municipal Liberia won the promotion play-off; the quarter-final before it, against A.D. Carmelita from the same province, is the fixture supporters in Belén still bring up first.

José Rodolfo Montiel scored through those years, taking the Liga de Ascenso scoring title in 2021–22 and again the following season, and finishing as the division's all-time leading scorer.

Promotion came for 2026, with Júnior Díaz taking over as head coach. Raúl López scored the club's first goal in the Primera División against Alajuelense in August 2026.

Home is the Estadio Polideportivo de Belén in San Antonio, which holds around 4,500 and now hosting the Liga Promérica. Greivin Fonseca captains the side.
