Sports clubs in the Danish provinces tended to start as general athletics associations, and Frederikssund Idrætsforening was one of them.
The one season that separates FIK from the hundreds of Danish clubs around it came in 1967–68, when the side played in the country's top division. The club has spent the decades since in the lower amateur tiers, in and around the Danmarksserien.
The shirts are yellow with blue sleeves, blue shorts and blue socks, a combination the club has held onto.
What FIK does not have is a trophy to point at.
