Lech Poznan

Poznań has room for two rivalries, and the older one runs straight across the city, against Warta — the Derby Poznania predates almost everything else in Lech's story. The sharper one runs to Warsaw: meetings with Legia carry the label Derby Polski, a rivalry built less on geography than on who keeps winning.

The club began in August 1920 as a works team, Lutnia, in the Dębiec district, formally registered in March 1922 as TS Liga Dębiec. Not until 1957 did it take the name Kolejowy Klub Sportowy Lech Poznań, tying it to the Polish railways, PKP, and giving it the nickname that stuck — Kolejorz, the railwayman.

A golden run through the 1980s, under Wojciech Łazarek, produced a league and cup double in 1984. The club then fell hard the other way, relegated to the second division in 2000 and dragged through financial trouble for years after. Recovery came once the Amica holding got involved, and in 2010 Lech won the league for the first time in seventeen years, with Robert Lewandowski playing his last season in Poznań before Borussia Dortmund came calling.

That championship was one of ten now, the most recent pair coming in 2025 and 2026. Five Puchar Polski wins and seven Superpuchar Polski successes sit alongside it, and in 2022/23 Lech reached the Conference League quarter-finals, still the club's deepest run into Europe.

Home games are played at the Enea Stadion, rebuilt for Euro 2012 and now holding just under 43,000 across Lech's blue and white.
