Abdessalam Benjelloun had already worn the colours of Raja Casablanca, AS FAR and FUS Rabat, and capped it with 21 appearances for Morocco, before he came back to Widad Temara in March 2024 — first as a player, then as manager. What he found was a club still shaking off relegation from Botola Pro 2, finishing bottom of the third tier with 20 points at the end of the 2020–21 season. Two years later, in 2025–26, his side finished second in Botola Pro 2 and sent the club into Botola Pro 1 for the first time since it was founded in Temara in 1993.

Widad Temara won the Championnat National Amateur three times, in 2013–14, 2021–22 and 2024–25, each title working as a ticket back up to the second division after the drop of 2021. El Houssaine Ouchla, once an Olympic and Africa Cup of Nations player for Morocco, managed the side through two of those amateur seasons.

The Throne Cup has offered less: a Round of 16 finish in 2018 remains the club's best run, alongside a 2026 win in the Tournoi Mohamed Timoumi.

Benjelloun's name is the one now tied to the club's history books.
