Bangladesh Women in West Indies (WI) 2024/25

The bilateral cricket series between the West Indies Women and Bangladesh Women marks a significant milestone in international women’s sport. Held at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts, this tour represented the first-ever visit by the Bangladesh Women's team to the West Indies. It also stands as the inaugural bilateral Twenty20 International (T20I) series between the two nations.

The schedule featured three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. The ODIs carried additional weight as part of the ICC Women's Championship, which serves as the qualification pathway for the 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. This championship is the premier ODI league for Full Member nations, established in 2014.

In terms of results, the West Indies Women secured a clean sweep in the T20I format, winning the series 3-0. The ODI series proved more competitive. Bangladesh Women claimed the series 2-1, achieving a historic victory in the second match on January 21, 2025. This win ended a prolonged period where the West Indies had dominated all previous encounters between the sides. Before this tour, the West Indies had won ODI series in 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2018.

While the international fixture highlighted a new dynamic, the West Indies domestic structure remains distinct. The top tier includes the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup and the T20 Blaze, featuring six regional teams: Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Windward Islands. These domestic competitions operate separately from the international tours but form the foundation of cricket development in the region. The specific tour in January 2025 shifted the balance of power in recent bilateral history, offering Bangladesh a platform to challenge established hierarchies on home soil.
