The North American Cup is a regional Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament organized by ICC Americas, with USA Cricket playing a key role. It was founded in 2025 as a new development competition, distinct from the historical ICC Americas Championship which served as a World Cup qualifier. The tournament is an invitational event for Associate members of the ICC in the region and does not feature promotion or relegation. It is designed to provide competitive experience and serve as preparation for official ICC qualifiers, such as the T20 World Cup Americas Regional Final, rather than acting as a qualifier itself. The tournament distinguishes itself from older regional structures by focusing on T20I status and regional camaraderie among North American and Caribbean Associate nations, rather than global qualification pathways.
The inaugural edition was hosted by the Cayman Islands from April 19 to 27, 2025. The format consisted of a group stage followed by knockout playoffs. The United States won the inaugural title, defeating Canada by six wickets in the final on April 27, 2025, at the Jimmy Powell Oval in George Town. The second edition was scheduled for September 2026, also hosted by the Cayman Islands. However, participation for the 2026 edition was reduced, with reports indicating that the USA and Canada did not participate, leaving the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and the Bahamas to compete in a double round-robin format followed by a qualifier and final.
