Lisa Fuchs finished the 2025/26 season with 228 goals and the club's Player of the Season award, and it was largely her scoring that carried the Neckarmädels to a second-place finish in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga. Promotion never followed: the club was denied a licence for the top flight, so the runners-up spot stayed a line in the record books rather than a step up.

The handball department grew out of TG Nürtingen, a multi-sport club founded in 1859, though the section itself dates to 1927 and will mark its centenary in 2027. It has stayed in the 2. Bundesliga continuously since earning promotion in 2014/15 as champions of the 3. Liga Süd, building on a run that began with the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg title in 2010/11.

Kerstin Foth topped the scoring charts before Fuchs did, with 237 goals in 2023/24. Matches against VfL Waiblingen and Frisch Auf Göppingen carry the weight of a derby in this part of Baden-Württemberg.

From the 2026/27 season the handball departments of TG Nürtingen and TSV Zizishausen merge into SG Nürtingen-Zizishausen.
