The teams train and play at the Hala Sportowa OCS, the sports hall run by the local Ośrodek Kultury Sportowej on Obrzycka Street, and it is there that Oborniki's handball section, part of the wider SKF KPR Sparta club, does most of its work with junior players. That work has carried further than the senior sides so far: in May 2025 the Junior Boys reached the final of the Polish Junior Handball Championship, having beaten ORLEN Wisła Płock in the semi-final along the way. Marek Arciszewski and Tomasz Witaszak have coached those age groups, and the 2019 win in the ZPRP Cup for boys, a 28:25 final against SKS Kusego Kraków, belongs to the same production line.

Sparta itself dates back to 1922, and the multi-sport club marked its centenary in 2022, though the handball section's own founding is harder to pin to a date. The team plays in white, green and red, and competes in the second-tier I Liga, with the men's side having moved between that division and the II Liga over the years while the women have held a place in the I Liga. Games against Tęcza Kościan, Polonia Kępno and Wolsztyniak Wolsztyn carry the weight of the regional Greater Poland derby, particularly on the women's side, and there is a smaller, more local needle in matches with Orkan Objezierze from within the same gmina, which also helps fund the club.

What the club has not yet managed is to turn that junior pedigree into results at senior level: neither the men's nor the women's first team has taken a title in the I Liga.
