Queensland Women

Allan Border Field is in Brisbane, and it is where Queensland's women have built most of their recent history, a ground with room for 6,500. The team that plays there now carries the nickname Queensland Fire, adopted in 1997 after years as Queensland Women; maroon and gold on the field trace back further, to a first representative match on 23 March 1931, an innings defeat to New South Wales that nonetheless marks the side's starting point.

For decades the runner-up finish became a pattern rather than an exception. That run ended in the 2020–21 final, when Georgia Redmayne made an unbeaten 134 to see off Victoria by 112 runs and hand Queensland its first title.

The Twenty20 Cup has offered Queensland one moment of its own: the 2013–14 title, sealed by three runs over the ACT Meteors when Jodie Fields batted through for 80 not out.
