Monika Kobylińska passed through the youth ranks here before going on to represent Poland at senior level, one of several graduates whose names now appear on the national team sheet rather than a Płock one. That pipeline is the point of the place: SMS Płock exists to feed Orlen Wisła Płock.

The school itself began in Gliwice in 1997 and moved its handball section to Płock in September 2013, taking up the 2013/2014 season under the ZPRP banner.

Senior silverware was never the aim and there is none to report; the honours that do exist sit where the club actually competes, among them the SMS Cup in the girls' category in 2023.

Local competition comes in the form of the Derby Płocka against MMKS Jutrzenka Płock and against Orlen Wisła II Płock — the reserve side of the very club SMS is built to supply. For now the work continues at ground level, developing the next age group with an eye on who gets called up next.
