Douglas Haig — Sol de América: 1:2, Torneo Federal A

Duglas Haig hosted Sol de América in the Winners Stage of the Torneo Federal A on Sunday evening, and the visitors completed a comeback to win 2:1. Two early goals from Haig had put them ahead, but Sol de América took the lead in stoppage time when F. Olmedo fired past the goalkeeper in the 90+2nd minute.

It was a fast start for the hosts. F. M. Mendoza opened the scoring after just three minutes, and J. Palacio doubled the advantage eleven minutes later. Haig were clearly buoyed by that early double, and by then they were pressing forward with confidence. A yellow card for one of their players at the 41st minute was the only caution for the home side.

And here's the thing — Sol de América weathered the storm and stayed in the game. They had two yellow cards of their own, one at 90+1', but kept their discipline. When Olmedo found the net in the final moments, the momentum had shifted completely. To be fair, the visitors had been patient, and that patience paid off when it mattered most.

The statistics tell a familiar story. Haig dominated possession at 61 per cent and registered 102 attacks compared to 78 for their opponents. They took ten shots on target and seven off target, while Sol de América managed only three shots on target with none missing the mark. Many shots with one goal means chances went begging, and that is what happened here.

By then, the table position had become more meaningful. Sol de América moved into second place with 10 points from five games, two ahead of Haig who sit third with eight points from six fixtures. The result extended the visitors' unbeaten run and pulled the strings of what could have been a comfortable evening for the hosts.
