Juan Pablo Francia was fifteen when he made his debut for Sportivo Belgrano in 2000, left for Bordeaux in France, and came back in 2008, making more than 350 appearances by the time he was done. He was on the pitch for both promotions the club managed, in 2009 and again in 2013. The other name from that side is Juan Manuel Aróstegui, who went off to Boca Juniors' reserve side, and returned in 2010 to score the goal that sent Sportivo Belgrano up in 2013.
That year, 30 June, stands as the high point of the club's history. It followed on from 2009, when Sportivo Belgrano beat Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza to win the Torneo Argentino A, the country's third tier.
Before any of that, the club spent decades as a fixture of the Liga Cordobesa, which it joined in 1940 and won in 1945, 1954, 1956, 1959, 1961, 1968, 1988, 1994 and 1997 among them.
Known as La Verde, the club plays in green, with light blue and white from its founding kept on for alternate strips.
