Match report
Košice and Trenčín played out a 3-3 draw in the Superliga's second round of the regular season on Friday evening. The visitors took an early lead through O. Kakay before R. Cerepkai equalised for the hosts. By then the game had settled into a rhythm neither side could quite control, and each goal simply shifted the momentum rather than settling it.
R. Cerepkai gave Košice the lead in the fifteenth minute, though Trenčín responded quickly through Kakay in the thirty-fifth. Paur restored parity just after the interval, and Mikulaj put the hosts ahead again in the seventy-first. The visitors levelled through a penalty from Eynel Soares in the eighty-fourth, and Kosa's late strike completed the scoring.
Košice dominated possession at 56 per cent and registered 427 passes against 342 for Trenčín. The hosts generated 114 attacks and created three big chances, while their opponents managed 86 attacks with the same number of clear opportunities. Košice's eight shots on target yielded three goals, whereas Trenčín's four on target produced four — a penalty from Soares and two from open play.
The result leaves Košice seventh with nine points from six games, one victory and one defeat separating them from the top half. Trenčín remain ninth with five points, their record of one win and three losses reflecting a difficult start. Both sides had already played five matches before this fixture, and the draw extends a streak of tight encounters between them.
What stood out was not the volume of chances but how they were created. Košice threw 27 crosses into the box compared to Trenčín's 13, yet the visitors' accuracy from set pieces proved decisive. Soares' penalty converted a moment of pressure into a point, and Kosa's finish in stoppage time ensured neither side walked away disappointed.
