Huvintud Unida took three points at home to Leandro N. Alem on Tuesday evening, closing out a 2-1 win in the Primera C regular season. The visitors had already been fifth before kick-off and extended their cushion over the hosts, who sat eleventh. It was a result that said more about positioning than spectacle. The home side had nothing to do all evening after the opening exchanges, and by then the visitors were running things.
The first real moment came at the 40th minute when M. Paredes stepped up for a penalty and did not miss. He slotted it past the goalkeeper and Leandro N. Alem led for a minute. And here's the thing — the reply arrived almost immediately. M. A. Cristeff found space in the box and equalised at 41, a goal that seemed to shift the weight of the game. Two strikes in sixty seconds is not a pattern you see often.
Leandro N. Alem pushed for a winner but the visitors held firm until the 73rd minute. A. Molinas broke through and finished cleanly, putting Huvintud ahead for good. The home side threw everything at it after that, but the visitors had nothing to do all evening once the third goal landed. It was the sort of game decided by three or four moments rather than possession.
The statistics tell you nothing, really. Both teams registered zero attacks and half possession on paper, which is to say the data provider gave up. What mattered was the timing, not the numbers. Huvintud Unida scored twice in quick succession and then added a late goal. Leandro N. Alem had nothing to do all evening after the opening exchanges.
After twenty-two rounds the visitors sit fifth with thirty-eight points, eight clear of the home side. Leandro N. Alem remain on twenty-seven after seven wins, six draws and thirteen defeats. The gap between them is not insurmountable, but it is enough to keep the home team below the playoff places for now.
