About the player
A left-footed midfielder who came through the youth system at Nacional, Agustín González was part of the squad that took the Campeonato Uruguayo and the Torneo Intermedio in 2020. Between 2017 and 2019 he was loaned out three times in three years, to IA Sud América, Montevideo City Torque and Club Atlético Progreso.
He is described in Uruguay as a volante mixto — a box-to-box midfielder.
The move abroad came in July 2021, to FC Schaffhausen in Switzerland, lasting until February 2024, and it brought him the Challenge League title in 2021–22 and promotion with it to the Super League.
What followed was a run of short stops. He returned to Uruguay in early 2024 with Liverpool FC of Montevideo, where he won the Torneo Intermedio that year, then left for Brusque in Brazil in August. By January 2025 he was in Peru with Cienciano, for a single Liga 1 season, and he registered again with Liverpool during 2025 before signing for Deportivo Garcilaso in January 2026.
His international record is slight: appearances for the Uruguay under-23 side, including a goal in December 2019. There are no caps at senior or under-20 level. Neither of his Peruvian clubs has yet added anything to the medal count he brought with him from Uruguay and Switzerland.
