About the player
On 28 March 2026, against Utah Royals, Aïssata Traoré scored the first goal in the history of Boston Legacy FC. She had arrived with another first already attached to her name: when she signed a three-year contract on 10 July 2025, running to the end of the 2028 season, she became the first player from Mali to appear in the NWSL.
The route there ran through Bamako, where she started her professional career with AS Super Lionnes d'Hamdallaye between 2014 and 2018. A loan to Beşiktaş J.K. in 2019 gave her nine matches, eight goals — and a Turkish title in the 2018/19 season.
France followed. Traoré spent five seasons at En Avant Guingamp from 2019 to 2024 and finished with 84 appearances and eight goals. She left as a free agent in July 2024 for FC Fleury 91, and 20 matches, nine goals and four assists in 2024/25. Boston sent her back to Fleury on loan for the first half of the 2025/26 season before she began in the NWSL.
For Mali she had 14 caps and six goals as of November 2018, including one against Cameroon at that year's Africa Cup of Nations, where the team reached the semi-finals. She also featured at the 2024 edition of the tournament.
