Alejandro Jesus Pósito Olazábal

A 4-4 draw is an unusual place to start a career, but that is where Alejandro Pósito was handed a debut. On 12 March 2023, the centre-back came into a Liga 1 match against Deportivo Garcilaso that finished level at four goals apiece — a first professional appearance for a player who had, to that point, known only Sporting Cristal's youth setup.

He had come through the club's academy in stages, the U-20 side and then the reserves, and the promotion was made formal on 1 January 2024, when he was registered with the first team. Through 2024 he had made 12 Liga 1 appearances for the club. Cristal took him into the Copa Libertadores in 2024 and again in 2025, and into the Copa Sudamericana in 2025.

The goal came later. On 16 August 2025, against Deportivo Binacional, Pósito scored his first for Sporting Cristal.

Peru have called him up through the age groups rather than the senior side. He played four matches for the under-20s, including the 2025 South American U-20 Championship in Venezuela, and appeared for the under-23s in the Olympic qualifying matches of January 2024.

The trophy cabinet is empty so far. Sporting Cristal did not win the Peruvian title in 2023 or 2024 — Alianza Lima and Universitario took those championships — and Pósito has collected no individual awards. Nor has he played for any club outside the one that raised him: there has been no transfer, and no fee to report. Born in Batán Grande, he remains a Cristal player, right-footed, still competing for minutes in the middle of the defence.
