About the player
Alexis Fretes is a product of Libertad's academy who made his first-team debut on 6 August 2024, in a 2-2 draw against Sportivo Trinidense. Since then the left-footed defender, comfortable also on the left of midfield or as a left winger, has reached 59 appearances and four goals for the club by mid-2025.
Fretes was born in Ciudad del Este and came through Libertad's youth ranks before breaking into the first team.
The first half of the 2025 season brought his heaviest workload yet: 11 appearances and two goals. He was called up to Paraguay's under-20 side and took part in the South American U-20 Championship in February 2025. He has not yet featured for the senior national team.
At club level, Fretes has already won an Apertura title with Libertad. His progress was interrupted in June 2025, when he suffered a serious injury that was reported in the Paraguayan press.
