About the player
Ángel Zapata came through Monterrey's academy, joining the club in 2016 and working his way to a first-team debut in August 2020. What followed was a long stretch away from Monterrey's own pitch: loan spells at Raya2, FC Juárez and Dorados de Sinaloa took him through Mexico's second tier and gave him the minutes his parent club could not. Querétaro FC signed him permanently in January 2025, and a year later, on 1 January 2026, he moved on again, this time to Club Tijuana, in a transfer the club confirmed officially.
Born in Saltillo, in the state of Coahuila, Zapata plays as a midfielder.
His career so far reads as a search for a regular role: academy graduate, three separate loans across three different clubs, then a permanent move, then another.
