About the player
Jorge Salim Hernández Soriano spent four seasons as Leones Negros' goalkeeper before either Liga MX club came calling. Between 2020 and 2024 in the Liga de Expansión MX, he built a run of steady appearances that culminated in the 2023/24 campaign, when he played 38 matches and helped the club reach the Clausura final. Leones Negros lost that tie to Atlante 4-1 on aggregate, with defeats in both legs, but the run marked the high point of Hernández's time at the club.
The final proved a springboard. Queretaro signed him in July 2024, presenting him to Liga MX supporters that summer. His stay there was brief: a year later, in July 2025, he moved on again, this time to Club Tijuana, where he now wears the number 29 shirt.
Hernández made his competitive debut for Tijuana on 6 August 2025, starting in a Leagues Cup fixture against Seattle Sounders FC.
Born in Guadalajara, his path so far has run entirely through Mexican football's second and first divisions, from the Expansión MX to Liga MX, without yet a call-up to the senior national team.
