José Antonio Rodríguez Romero

José Antonio Rodríguez Romero came through Guadalajara's youth ranks and made the breakthrough at his boyhood club, appearing 44 times for the first team between 2008 and 2011 before a loan spell at Veracruz, where he played 21 matches. He returned to Guadalajara in 2012 and stayed for a decade, going on to make 104 appearances across that second spell.

Those years also brought short-term loans away from Guadalajara, including stints at León and Tijuana in 2017, though he did not feature in either. A longer loan followed at Lobos BUAP between 2018 and 2019, where he made 32 appearances, and in 2022 he moved to Querétaro on loan, playing nine matches before that spell ended.

The high point of his time at Guadalajara came in 2018, when the club won the CONCACAF Champions League.

He has represented Mexico's senior national team on two occasions, both in 2023 under coach Jaime Lozano. His debut came on 7 June 2023 in a friendly against Guatemala, a 2-0 win, when he came on as a substitute and played 45 minutes. His second cap followed later the same year. He was part of the squad that won the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and his honours also include the 2025 Copa Oro México.
