About the player
Two European clubs came asking in 2026, and Palmeiras said no. Borussia Dortmund and Brentford both registered interest in Arthur Gabriel Santana Marcolino; the club's position was that the left-back mattered too much to the side to be sold in the near term.
He had been in the building since 2017, when he joined the academy as a boy from São Paulo. What followed was a run of youth titles that stretched across nine years: the state under-13 championship in 2018, then the Brazilian under-17 championship and the under-17 Cup of Brazil in the same 2022 season, the São Paulo state under-20 title in 2023, and the Brazilian under-20 championship in both 2024 and 2025.
The promotion to the senior squad came in 2026. By the middle of the year he had 21 senior appearances: 15 in Série A, seven in the Copa Libertadores and three in the Cup of Brazil.
Arthur has not gone out on loan at any stage — the whole career, youth and senior, has been at one club. His contract at Palmeiras runs to 31 December 2029.
