Emmanuel Edosa Iyoha

Emmanuel Edosa Iyoha grew up in the Fortuna Düsseldorf academy, joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen's youth ranks in 2012 and signing his first professional contract there in 2015. Three loan spells shaped his path through German football's middle tiers: at VfL Osnabrück, where the club won the 3. Liga title in the 2017-18 season, at Erzgebirge Aue, and at Holstein Kiel, where in June 2020 he scored a goal described at the time as a potential goal of the season.

Those loans gave him regular football during a period when a route into Fortuna Düsseldorf's own first team was not guaranteed. He eventually established himself back at the club, making 145 appearances and scoring eight goals across his time in Düsseldorf, before leaving on a free transfer to 1. FC Magdeburg.

Germany called him up at every youth level. He collected caps for the U19s, then seven appearances and a goal for the U20s, a run that included a place in the squad for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, and later two caps for the U21s. Nigerian by descent, he was reported to have weighed a switch of allegiance to the country of his family's origin before ruling it out in 2016 and continuing his international path with Germany. He has not featured for the senior national side.

Reports on his stronger foot differ: some describe him as right-footed, others as comfortable on both. On the pitch he has been used both as a right winger and as a defender, a versatility that has followed him through his loan moves and his return to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
