About the player
Fredy Martínez came through Danubio's academy and made his top-flight debut with the club on 20 September 2020. Two loan spells followed in 2022, first at Villa Española, where he debuted in the Segunda División on 20 March, then at Central Español from 30 July, before he returned to Danubio at the end of the year.
In February 2023 the left-footed defender moved to Nacional on a free transfer. His debut for the Montevideo club came in the Uruguayan Cup on 30 October 2023, and he stayed with the side through the 2024 season. On 1 January 2025 he joined Boston River, again without a transfer fee, and made his first appearance for the club a month later, on 1 February.
Martínez has also featured for Uruguay's under-23 side, called up under Marcelo Bielsa, and was named in the preliminary squad for the Preolímpico Sudamericano Sub-23, the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics. He has made four appearances for the age-group team.
