About the player
At 193 cm, Guillermo Maripán was handed his first-team debut by Universidad Católica on 27 October 2012, in the Chilean Primera. He was 18, and he had come through the club's own youth system in the country where he was born, in Vitacura.
He stayed at Católica until the summer of 2017, when Spanish side Alavés signed him on a four-year contract. That deal ran only half its course: after two seasons in Spain, Maripán left in 2019.
On 29 August 2024 he joined Torino on a two-year deal.
His debut for the national team came on 11 January 2017, against Croatia in the China Cup, a match that finished 1–1. By September 2024 he had made 48 appearances for Chile and scored twice.
