Hanna Stambø

In 2018 Japan won the U-20 World Cup for the first time, and Hanna Stambø was in goal for five matches of that run, conceding three goals on the way through to the final against Spain.

She was born in Akishima, in Tokyo Prefecture, to an American father and a Japanese mother, and holds both passports.

The senior team came close. She was invited to a training camp in 2020, and in June 2021 she was named in the squad for a friendly before the Tokyo Olympics. She was injured in training and replaced. She has not played an official senior international.

Her club career started at INAC Kobe Leonessa, where she made 21 appearances across four seasons, 20 of them in the league. A move to Omiya Ardija Ventus in January 2021 brought less: eight matches in three years before she left in January 2024.

Angel City FC extended her contract for 2025, but she did not play a single competitive match for the club and left as a free agent when the deal expired.

Boston Legacy FC signed her on 11 December 2025, a two-year contract, terms undisclosed. She wears number 87. She has no individual league honours and has not been named in a WE League or NWSL team of the season.
