About the player
A striker who spent two seasons in English non-league football does not usually turn up in the Primeira Liga. Jalen Blesa did.
From there he went to Kosovo. A short spell at Istogu was followed by half a season at Rahoveci — 14 games, 10 goals — and then a move to Prishtina , where he won the Kosovar Cup in 2022/23 and was part of the side that took the Kosovar Supercup in 2023. He was named star of the week in the Kosovar Superliga in the eleventh round of 2023/24.
The transfers grew larger from there. Universitatea Craiova paid around €200,000 for him in February 2024; a loan to Dinamo Batumi in Georgia carried a €290,000 purchase option. He joined Cesena as a free agent in August 2025 and scored four goals in 21 Serie B appearances.
Then Rio Ave spent €1.7m on him in February 2026 and got an immediate return: seven goals in 13 league matches over the remainder of 2025/26. He has added a goal and an assist in three appearances so far this season.
Blesa holds Spanish, American and British citizenship. No senior international call-up has been recorded.
