About the player
What Ole Christian Hammerfjell Sæter is remembered for at Rosenborg is a single strike: a 30-metre effort against Sandefjord that won him the Eliteserien Goal of the Season award in 2024. More than any medal — Rosenborg have not won a trophy since before he arrived, and the award remains his standout individual achievement.
His path to Trondheim's biggest club was not a fast one. He came through the Sverresborg IF and Kristiansund BK 2 sides before spells at Nardo FK and Ranheim Fotball, arriving at Rosenborg only in January 2021, with a loan to Ullensaker/Kisa IL that same year to gain more first-team football.
Off the pitch, Sæter has spoken publicly about a decision that goes beyond football. Eligible to represent Pakistan through his maternal grandfather, he rejected a proposed transfer to Maccabi Haifa, citing the war in Gaza as his reason. He has not made a senior appearance for Norway.
In January 2026 he left Rosenborg for Vålerenga, signing a two-year contract in a move reported to have involved him giving up money to get it done.
