Kevin Armando Sandoval Laynes

Sandoval's 2022 season with Cienciano was the one that made his name: 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 matches, including a pair of strikes against Atlético Grau. It was a return on the promise he had shown in fragments elsewhere.

He came through the youth ranks at Sporting Cristal, but his senior football began away from Lima, on loan at Ayacucho FC from 2017 to 2019, where he made his professional debut in March 2017. He went back to Cristal in mid-2019 and became a fixture in the side, scoring four goals in 28 appearances during the 2020 season, which ended with the Liga 1 title.

Then came the break. His contract was not renewed at the end of 2020, a decision described at the time as inexplicable given what he had contributed. He signed for Cienciano in January 2021.

The international recognition arrived alongside the club form. Sandoval won 10 caps for Peru at under-23 level and scored twice, taking part in the 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. He was named in preliminary senior squads twice — for World Cup qualifiers in August 2020 and for the Copa América in June 2021 — without making his debut.

FBC Melgar announced him as their first signing of the season in January 2024. A year later, in January 2025, he moved to Deportivo Garcilaso. He is left-footed and slight at 172 cm.
