About the player
Kevin Chamorro signed a four-year deal at Rio Ave on 21 July 2025, moving permanently from Deportivo Saprissa for an undisclosed fee.
He came through at Carmelita in his native Costa Rica and made his first-team debut there on 22 February 2018. A move to San Carlos followed in 2019, on a one-year contract that was extended in June 2020. He joined Saprissa in the summer of 2021 on a two-year deal later extended to 2026.
He won the Primera División four times — Apertura 2022, Clausura 2023, Apertura 2023 and Clausura 2024 — and was named UNAFUT's best goalkeeper in three of those campaigns: Apertura 2022, Clausura 2023 and Apertura 2023. He also collected the Costa Rican Supercup and the Recopa.
Saprissa sent him to Estoril on a season-long loan in the summer of 2024, and he played four league matches there, keeping two clean sheets. Across his career he has 55 official clean sheets: four at Carmelita, three at San Carlos, 44 to 45 at Saprissa including cup ties, two at Estoril and one for the national team.
That international clean sheet came at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, one of two senior tournaments he has been part of alongside the 2024 Copa América. As of March 2026 he had made 12 official appearances for Costa Rica.
