About the player
Luka-Mikael Hyryläinen has played the position in front of the defence since his youth days in Finland. Born in Helsinki, he began at Laajasalon Palloseura before spending eight years in the HJK Helsinki academy. In 2020 he left for Eintracht Frankfurt's youth setup, where he made 22 appearances and scored twice across the U17 and U19 age groups.
He moved to TSG Hoffenheim II in 2022 and made 29 appearances and scored three goals in the Regionalliga Südwest in 2023–24. In August 2025 he signed for 1. FC Magdeburg, with Hoffenheim keeping a buy-back option attached to the deal, and has since made 11 appearances for the club, scoring once.
Internationally, Hyryläinen has moved steadily through Finland's youth ranks, from the U15s up to the U21s, and was named in the squad for the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He also featured in qualifying for the 2027 tournament. He is the son of Aki Hyryläinen, a former Finnish international who now serves as technical director of the Football Association of Finland.
