About the player
Lucas Evangelista joined São Paulo's academy in 2006, aged 11, and was let go soon afterwards because the club had no housing for its young players.
In between he spent 2009 to 2012 in the youth ranks at Desportivo Brasil, where he made his one professional appearance in 2012. That same year he trialled at Manchester United; no move followed.
Most of what followed was spent elsewhere. Estoril Praia in 2017–18, where he played 34 matches and scored four times. The 2019/20 season, on loan at Vitória de Guimarães, was his most settled in Europe: 19 matches, one goal, and a PortuGOAL Figure of the Week award.
Red Bull Bragantino signed him on loan in 2020 and made the deal permanent the following year. He stayed until 2025 and played 214 matches, scoring 15.
Palmeiras bought him in March 2025 for €4m in a deal that sent Fabinho the other way. His first goal for the club came on 20 July 2025 against Atlético Mineiro. On 28 September, against Bahia, he suffered a hamstring injury that required surgery and carried a three-to-six-month recovery estimate; he missed the rest of the season and returned in February 2026. His contract, originally running to the end of 2026, was extended in January that year. He had made 33 appearances by April 2026 and won the Paulista title.
He won the Toulon Tournament with Brazil's under-20s in 2014 and made 11 appearances at that level. He has not been called up to the senior side.
