About the player
Martín Río arrived there in January 2025 on loan from Querétaro, and the move was tangled up in a $1 million debt Banfield owed the Mexican club — settled by cancellation rather than cash. 31 matches and five goals across 2025 and 2026.
He came up through the youth ranks at Quilmes and at Racing de Avellaneda, and started as a professional a long way from the top flight. Talleres of Remedios de Escalada handed him a debut in the Primera B Metropolitana in 2021 — 15 matches, one goal. A year later he was at Defensores de Belgrano, where he played 28 times in the Primera Nacional over the 2022 season.
He stayed through 2024, then left Argentina for the first time when Querétaro took him into Liga MX.
Talleres Córdoba signed him permanently in January 2026 after his rescission clause was triggered; the fee was never disclosed. In the middle of 2026 he moved again, on loan to San Lorenzo for the 2026–27 season.
He has not been capped by Argentina at senior level, and there are no trophies or individual awards on the record.
